Enfys Fach Nursery in Brecon recently celebrated being named Early Years Business of the Year for Mid Wales with a party on Friday, May 23.
Parents, children, and former and current nursery members came together for an afternoon packed with fun - including visits from birds of prey, Spider-Man, and Elsa from the film, Frozen.
The event also featured face painting, an interactive storytelling session, outdoor soft play, and plenty of snacks and refreshments.
Situated next to Priory School, the nursery earned the award after being nominated and voted for by parents.
Enfys Fach Nursery Manager Amie Evans said: “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved in the short space of time that we have been open. The feel of community in this setting is wonderful and it almost feels like we’ve won it for our families.”
“The staff work so hard, and I have these crazy ideas, I’m just very lucky that everyone comes onboard with them and we have lots of fun,” she added.
“It’s a wonderful ethos here and to know it’s been acknowledged is amazing and we can celebrate it now.”
Parent Daniel Williams told the Brecon & Radnor Express what makes the nursery so special.
“The relationship between parents, staff and child is what makes this place so good,” he said.
“For me and my fiancé, we had a baby four weeks ago, so all in the lead up to that the nursery has been checking on Ava, our three-year-old, and making sure she’s okay and that we, as a family, were okay - and that goes a long way.
“They were great when Ava came back to nursery after we had the baby and let us know how she was adapting to the fact that we were all at home with the baby, but she still had to go to school.
“This place is like an extended family. Even down to when the baby was born, Amie came to our house just to check in.
“Ava loves coming here and tells us all about her day when she comes home.”
The nursery has been open for over two years and has become a cherished hub for the local community, especially popular with young families.
“I have never met a more dedicated and nurturing bunch of staff before,” said Chloe, another one of the children’s parents.
“I had no doubt that they would walk away with the prize because they truly deserve it and go above and beyond.”
Regarding the award, staff members Sarah and Lauren said: “It’s nice to have such positive feedback. All our parents are so supportive and to win the award is just nice to know you’re being appreciated for the work that you do.
“Obviously, this is a job, but it doesn’t feel like one; there’s routines and structure that we have to follow, but this is like an extended family for us.”
“Seeing the children grow and develop is really rewarding and we just genuinely love our jobs,” they said.
