The Llangynidr Agricultural Show has presented Brecon Mountain Rescue Team with a cheque for £400.

The Society which organizes this event chose their local voluntary search and rescue team to be their nominated Charity of the Year.

Brian Cope, Chairman of Llangynidr Agricultural Show Society, said: "For our comeback show, the first since 2019, we were very excited to see how well supported the event was. It was great to also be able to provide a platform for many local organisations to raise awareness and much-needed funds. We were so pleased to be able to host and support Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.

"Our thanks to their Ambassador, Kate Humble, for opening the show and engaging with so many people, and to Brecon Mountain Rescue team for putting on a wonderful display and helping to make the whole event the great success that it was. We are already looking forward to next year's show on Sunday, August 25 2024."

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team’s leader Dr. Rob Powell said: “We are very grateful to the Llangynidr Agricultural Show for this donation, and to the people who attended this event and supported us. Our volunteers give up countless hours to serve our operational area of over 700 square miles across mid Wales.

"Our team is funded entirely by donations, and the same team must raise sufficient funds to maintain thisservice. It costs approximately £55,000 each year to operate Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.”
