Organisers at Green Events in Llanwrtyd Wells are preparing for a busy month of events this August.

The Cider Cycle

On Saturday, 9 August, Green Events will be hosting perhaps their least eccentric event with The Cider Cycle. Starting at 10am, this is a non-competitive, fun bike ride through the surrounding hills, forests and valleys in a delightful part of mid Wales.

The route was designed to show off the beautiful countryside in which we are lucky enough to live in.

A choice of distances are available to competitors from around 14 miles to 25 miles. At the checkpoints, cider and Perry refreshments are available (non-alcoholic during the course to meet with stricter insurance requirements) and more (including with alcohol) when you reach the finish, if you haven’t used up all your tokens.

A BBQ will follow the event (cash only). £25 entrance fee. Find out more: https://www.green-events.co.uk/summer-cider-cycle

World Mountain Bike Chariot Racing Championships

Also on Saturday, 9 August, will be the World Mountain Bike Chariot Racing Championships, designed for you to have the chance of becoming a world champion.

The event starts at 4pm following The Cider Cycle at the Manor Adventure centre near Llanwrtyd Wells.

Special chariots built using traditional Roman mild steel, vulcanised rubber and welding techniques have been commissioned for the event, and will race against each other and the clock to determine this year's World Champions.

Designed to be pulled by two mountain bikes alongside each other, the winning team will have to demonstrate exceptional skill and courage, and will need to co-ordinate and co-operate fully as a single unit to overcome all challengers.

The event is open to teams of three people (2 riders + 1 charioteer) over the age of 16 years.

The entry fee is £25 per team. Find out more: https://www.green-events.co.uk/mountain-bike-chariot-racing
