Ten Girlguiding members from Breconshire celebrated HRH The Queen’s birthday by attending the Patron’s Lunch on the Mall.

The group was led by Nicola Matthews from 1st Mynydd Du Brownies and Ffion Griffiths from 1st Ystradgynlais Brownies.

Amelia Hughes and Jennifer Chandler represented 1st Brecon Guides and Amy Lawson 1st Crickhowell guides along with Meredith Lawrie Jessop from 1st Langrudr Guides.

They were joined by Brownies Cerys Davies and Caitlin Jones both from 1st Mynydd Du Brownies.

The youngest of the group were Honey Williams and Mari Efa Morgan Jones from 1st Ystradgynlais Rainbows. The group were selected by ballot to represent Wales.

They travelled to London where they met up with ninety other Girlguiding members from around the UK to share the celebration. The day started with a colourful pageant and a tasty picnic lunch followed by speeches and a parade.

The Patron’s Lunch marked the birthday of her Majesty the Queen. Representatives from over 600 charities of which The Queen is patron including Girlguiding enjoyed this very special street party alongside the group from Breconshire.

Honey, aged five, from 1st Ystradgynlais Rainbows, who meet HRH Sophie Countess of Wessex, said: "I’m so excited I got to meet a princess and I liked the ice cream and the parade too."

The group’s leader Nicola Mathews, Leader of 1st Mynydd Du Brownies, said: "We’re so pleased and excited to mark The Queen’s birthday even though it rained everyone had a smile on their face and enjoyed the day. We offer them lots of different opportunities in guiding but this has been very special for us all and we were very proud to represent Wales at this prestigious event."
