A MUSIC maestro will be celebrating love, life and his 90th birthday when he conducts a performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor at a Breconshire Church next week.
Jeffery Babb from Hay-on-Wye turned 90 on January 5 and to celebrate the big birthday he has organised the concert to take place at St Mary’s Church, opposite his home, on Saturday, January 30.
And performing what is one of his favourite pieces of music will be some of Mr Babb’s former students, members of the acclaimed Wintringham Singers and Rochford Ensemble.
The evening starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15 and £5 for under 18s and will be available on the door.
Proceeds are in aid of St Mary’s Choral Foundation to enable St Mary’s music committee to establish choral worship and develop a choir, including young choristers from the age of 8 who will be able to enjoy the same opportunities Mr Babb did as a child.
