IN 2018 McCartneys and Phipps & Pritchard chose the British Heart Foundation as their charity of the year. Heart disease is one of the world’s biggest killers, the BHF funds vital research to save lives.
McCartneys Livestock Markets are at the heart of communities and their first decision was to invest £4,000 providing potentially life-saving defibrillators for all their markets. They then organised for one of the team who is a community first responder to train staff in how to use them.
Many events were organised throughout 2018 including quiz nights, fancy dress days, a highly entertaining race night and an astonishing feat of endurance when a team from McCartneys took part in The Three Peaks 24 Hour Challenge.
During one of the hottest weekends recorded that year the three mountains of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon were scaled within the set time limit of 24 hours.
Whilst the challenge was no mean feat most importantly a fantastic £4,236 was raised.
Thanks to all the members of the public, friends, family and clients who donated and sponsored the team throughout the year and to Warren who has been an amazing ambassador and support.
In 2018 a total of £8,500 was raised. The BHF continues to fund new research into heart disease, their aim is to beat heartbreak forever.
