The Met Office has published their weather forecast for over the festive period as we countdown to Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve - Sunday, December 24:

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning over parts of Powys from 10pm on Saturday, December 23, until 6pm on Sunday, December 24.

The warning covers parts of Powys including: Llanwrtyd Wells, Builth Wells, Llandrindod Wells, and Rhayader, but has not been issued over Brecon, Presteigne, Crickhowell, or Ystradgynlais.

From 00:00 on Sunday morning we are likely to experience heavy rain, with a 90% chance of downfall until 3am. Between 3am and 6am there is a 70% chance of light precipitation.

Throughout the rest of the day there is a 60% chance of light rainfall, with an average temperature of 11 degrees celsius.

Christmas Day - Monday, December 25:

On Christmas Day, the Met Office has issued a 60% chance of light rainfall from midnight to 9am.

From 9am until midday, there is a 70% chance of heavy rainfall throughout the morning.

Into the afternoon there is a 50% chance of light rain over Powys with that dropping to 40% at 9pm.

Throughout the day the temperatures will steadily decrease from 11 degrees celsius to 8 degrees celsius.

Boxing Day - Tuesday, December 26:

Boxing Day is expected to be cloudy with only a 10% chance of rainfall over Powys until 6am, where the chance of any precipitation rises to 20% up until 3pm.

From 3pm until 9pm there is 50-60% chance of light rain, and at 9pm there is an 80% chance of a heavy downpour going into Wednesday (December 27).

Throughout Boxing Day the temperature ranges between 6 and 8 degrees celsius in Powys.
