Mid Wales band Tell Mother have released a brand-new Christmas single, “Soaring High,” just in time for the festive season. The track blends the group’s trademark harmonies with uplifting lyrics that capture the true magic of Christmas.
Recorded in Builth Wells, “Soaring High” showcases the four-piece band’s authentic musical style, offering a fresh addition to this year’s Christmas playlists. The song is available on streaming platforms Spotify and Apple Music.
“We wanted to create something that truly captures the spirit of Christmas, particularly in a small community like Builth where the festive period remains a really magical time. ‘Soaring High’ depicts Christmas Eve through the eyes of child – full of wonder and excitement.” said Tell Mother bassist Dan Parker.
A Christmas song is a departure from the band’s usual indie rock music and was born from a challenge made to Tell Mother.
“Our guitarist Jamie loves Christmas and was challenged by a friend to write a festive song, and he delivered! It’s very different to our usual music and it’s good as a band to be challenged to create something a little outside of our comfort zone,” added Dan.
Launched on Friday (21st November), ‘Soaring High’ is already getting attention, having been played on the radio show of TV personality Wynne Evans. The band will play the song live for the first time on Sunday (30th November) at The Welsh House, in Carmarthen.
Dan said: “We’ve been playing together for twenty years and are really grateful for all of the support we’ve received. We’ve had Tell Mother fans travel across the UK this year to watch us and it’s a great feeling to have that support from a community that we’ve all been a part of since we were kids.”
The song is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
