WELSH First Minister Carwyn Jones has unveiled a memorial to the colliers of the Upper Tawe Valley. Mr Jones unveiled the monument intended to look like a pit head and a plaque, marking the occasion, at the Diamond Park, built on the site of a former colliery, in Ystradgynlais. The leader of the Welsh Labour Government said at the opening of the Cofio'r Glowyr - or Remembering the Miners - memorial: "I think, people here are very proud of their history and proud of the communities that were created by our families." Speaking to The Brecon & Radnor Express Mr Jones also launched an attack on UKIP, branding it 'crazy', after he was asked about the rise of the anti European Union party in Wales.
