Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team have experienced a busy start to March, with multiple callouts to those in need.

The high number of callouts follows the trend for the rest of the year so far. The Central Beacons team have been called out eight times and deployed team members eight times so far this month, taking their totals for this year to 36 callouts with 29 deployments.

As well as assisting South Wales Police in a multi-day search for a missing person the team have been called to the usual array of injuries, spinal, pelvic, leg and ankle fractures of walkers and mountain bikers across various locations in Bannau Brycheiniog and South East Wales.

A spokesperson for the team said: “A busy month so far which continues our busy start generally to 2026.

“As we get closer to those longer, warmer, sunnier days which most of us dream of we look forward to seeing more people enjoying our great countryside and we ask please to go out suitably equipped and clothed for your intended activity.

“Remember, although the daylight is increasing the weather can and does turn quickly at anytime of year. Clothing, footwear, spare stuff, food, drink and appropriate planning all add up to a successful time in the outdoors!”
