Exhibits commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First World War and a display on shopping in Knighton from 1900-1970 are two new additions at Knighton Museum this summer.

Bright yellow eye-catching footprints have been purchased and clearly mark the way around the displays and to the exit after an audit from Knighton Access Group. Stanage and Stowe Women’s Institute donated some of the money towards the footprints which was added to money given by Knighton Initiative for Dementia Action.

The museum recently had an autism audit and it now has a cuddly bunny and the doll Julia from Sesame Street available, which can be taken around the museum by anyone with autism. Noise cancelling headphones are also available.

Other exhibits include a kitchen and scullery at the time of Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation and elements of a 1950’s school room are also featured.

The museum is open until October, Wednesday to Saturday from 10am-4pm and on Sundays from 11am until 4pm. Admission is free. Anyone keen to volunteer at the museum should contact Julia Llewellyn-Roberts on 01547 529530.
