On Sunday, July 6, more than 40 tractors and a handful of 4x4s gathered in Nantmel for the annual Nantmel Tractor Run, organised by the Tractor Enthusiasts of Nantmel (TEN).
The event raised more than £600, which will be split equally between the Rhayader Leg Club and Cancer Research UK (Rhayader branch).

After overnight rain, the day started overcast but brightened to gentle sunshine for the welcome speeches. Route planner John Bates gave final instructions to the assembled drivers before leading a minute’s silence in remembrance of three regular participants who recently passed away: Tom Nicholls, Ray Nicholls, and Adrian Rickhuss.
Llanyre with Nantmel Nantmel County Councillor Claire Johnson-Wood and Powys Vice Chairman County Councillor Geoff Morgan then offered words of welcome before officially flagging off the convoy.
Participants travelled from across the region and beyond, including Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Cleobury Mortimer in Shropshire; Hereford and Stoke Edith in Herefordshire; Kidwelly, Cynghordy, and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; and Newcastle Emlyn in Ceredigion.
The convoy followed a figure-of-eight route. The morning section headed north along Llwyn’s Lane towards Bwlch y Sarnau, then turned down a farm track through Abbey Cwm-Hir. After navigating two more farm tracks, the convoy emerged on Carmel Lane and Garth Hill before returning to Nantmel and the start field for lunch. The raffle was drawn during the break.
In the afternoon, the convoy headed south across Nant Glas and Argoed Lane, climbed to the TV mast for views over Llandrindod Wells, then descended through Caerfagu back to the finish.
The TEN club thanked all landowners, participants, and helpers, as well as local businesses who donated raffle prizes: Caerfagu Products Ltd, Rhayader Animal Health, Andrew Thomas Agricultural Engineers, and Mike Phillips Machinery. Special thanks went to Nigel Gethin, who acted as backmarker and gate closer.
