A group of dedicated colleagues and friends have climbed the three highest Welsh peaks for an armed forces charity.

The Bog Womblers - 11 employees of Landmarc Support Services, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, and ESS Defence – put their collective best foot forward to scale Snowdon, Cadir Idris, and Pen-y-Fan in less than 24 hours.

The team comepleted the challenge in style, making light work of the 17-mile route and combined altitude of nearly 7,700 feet, raising more than £2,300 for SSAFA - the Armed Forces charity, in the process.

Chris Palser, Wales and West Training Area Manager for Landmarc, based at Sennybridge Training Area said: “Our team of 11 had two aims: raise awareness for SSAFA, which has been providing life-changing and lifelong support for our Armed Forces – serving, veteran, and their families for 137 years, and raise some money for this fantastic charity along the way.

“I am delighted to say that we Bog Womblers achieved both, and smashed our fundraising target with donations totalling £2,343.”

SSAFA’s Corporate Relations Manager, Sam Nowell, added: “Hats off to Chris and the Bog Womblers for such an amazing result.

“The effort put in individuals and corporate groups such as Landmarc to raise funds so SSAFA can support our Armed Forces when, where, and how their need it is quite humbling, and everyone at SSAFA – and especially its beneficiaries – will want to offer Chris, Landmarc, Defence Infrastructure Organisation, and ESS Defence their heartiest thanks.”
