TEENAGER Olivia Grant is hoping to prove she’s a cut above the rest in the Miss Teen Great Britain contest.
Gwernyfed High School pupil Olivia, from Llyswen, has been crowned Miss Powys and has secured sponsorship from Hay-on-Wye salon Hay Hair for the competition which will culminate in a grand final at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in October.
Hairdresser Becky Whitney has agreed to support Olivia through the campaign.
Olivia, who is 15 and has just sat her GCSEs at the Three Cocks school, entered the competition described as a "positive and confidence building experience for young girls and teenagers" earlier this year.
She said "It wasn’t something I was planning on doing. I just did it on a whim to see if anything would come of it, I didn’t expect to get this far."
Olivia had to complete questionnaires which were reviewed by a panel of judges who whittled the finalists down to 60.
Ambitious Olivia added: "So far I wanted to be a lawyer but this has given me more confidence to try new things as well and I would like to try to get into modelling."
