TWO olympians opened the new village hub in Talybont-on-Usk, the culmination of four years of planning and a lottery grant.
The Totally Talybont Village and Bike Hub was officially opened by Paralympic gold medal table tennis player, Rob Davies, from Brecon, and double World Champion and Olympic silver medal cyclist, Becky James.
Awarded £250,000 from the Big Lottery Project, the hub is centred around the refurbished village hall and includes new children’s playgrounds, improved grounds, access paths and a trim trail.
It also includes facilities for cyclists as it now hosts outdoor toilets and showers for mountain bikers, and a bike wash which uses rain water collected rain from the roof.
Claire Wright, from the Totally Talybont Big Lottery Project’s steering group, said: “It’s good because mountain bikers can get cleaned up when they’re finished and then go to enjoy other things that Talybont has to offer like the cafes and places to eat.
“I think it will be a great help to support the local and economy and it does meant that it is more accessible.”
