Award-winning Welsh vocal ensemble Only Men Aloud will come to Llandrindod Wells later this year as part of their 25th anniversary tour.

The group, best known for winning BBC One’s Last Choir Standing in 2008 and for performances at the Royal Variety Show and the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, will perform at The Albert Hall on Friday, November 28, with their Christmas show A Merry Little Christmas.

Founded in 2000 by conductor Tim Rhys-Evans MBE to give the Welsh male choral tradition a modern twist, the eight-piece ensemble now blends classical, opera, pop, musical theatre and traditional hymns. Over the years they have toured internationally, supported Diana Ross at Cardiff Castle, and even been immortalised in LEGO alongside Bonnie Tyler.

The tour will feature a mix of favourite choral arrangements, lively reworkings of popular songs, and stories from their 25 years together.

Creative Director of the Aloud Charity and founding member of the group Craig Yates said: “This is a celebration tour. We’ve had a wonderful time with OMA, which has really evolved over the last 25 years.

“We’re all adults now, with the range of family responsibilities which come with that. We’ve all got jobs and OMA is a hobby – but what a hobby to have!

"We’ve known each other so long that we can drop very easily back into song as it’s tough to get everyone together for rehearsals. We get on so well and went through so many surreal moments together.

“It’s been amazing and we are thankful that people still really enjoy listening to and seeing us. It’s lovely to be back.”
