A NEW play by the poet Owen Sheers is to premiere in Hay-on-Wye next month.

Unicorns, Almost is a one-man show about the life and work of the World War II poet Keith Douglas. It will open at The Swan in Hay on May 24 and runs until June 7.

Written by Owen Sheers (The Passion, Mametz, Pink Mist) and directed by John Retallack (who directed Owen’s Pink Mist), Unicorns, Almost will plunge the audience into Keith Douglas’ world and character, using the best of his poems as stepping stones through his life.

Unicorns, Almost is produced by Clyro-based The Story of Books and opens in Hay on May 25 and will run until June 7 at The Swan Hotel, Church Street, Hay-on-Wye. The play runs from 5pm and 8pm.
