A REMINDER has been issued that police officers never ask for money over the phone.

Fraudsters have been cold calling people in Radnorshire claiming to be police officers and demanding money or bank details over the phone.

They claim to be investigating unidentified activity/fraud in the person’s bank account and say the caller must cooperate with their "investigation".

Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed the calls are part of a scam and warned people to be on their guard.

A spokeswoman said the fraudsters had fortunately had no joy in Radnorshire.

She said: "Police would never target people in this way and would certainly not ask for money or bank details over the phone.

"Please be vigilant, do not part with any money or personal information. Remember - It is OK not to speak with cold callers - just put the phone down. If you are concerned please contact policE."
