Police were called after worried passersby spotted two “very distressed dogs” in a parked car.
The dogs were seen by worried members of the public in the car in Hay-on-Wye who then alerted Dyfed-Powys Police yesterday.
The Breconshire Police account tweeted a reminder to people visiting Hay-on-Wye for the Hay Festival this week not to bring their furry friends.
The tweet said: “Dogs die in hot cars. If you’re travelling to Hay Festival 2019, leave your pets at home.
“Officers found two dogs in this vehicle. Both very distressed.”
It is not thought that officers had to force entry to the car to help the dogs.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: “A member of the public called police to advise that the dogs were in the vehicle.
“The owner of the vehicle returned and was given words of advice.”
