Great times were had at Brecon County Show last weekend, with show goers able to catch up with old friends & to make new in the glorious sunshine.
Amongst their number was Powys County Council Chair, County Cllr William Powell, who was delighted to call in at the Powys Brecknock/ Aberhonddu Angels WI Stand and to sample the produce of their Welsh Cake marathon. He also got to chat with Powys Brecknock WI Chair Mrs Lesley Price (née Pope) as well as WI volunteers Michelle, Jenny & Gaynor.

Commenting on his visit, Cllr William Powell (Welsh Lib Dem, Talgarth) said: "The WI is a fantastic organisation, which combines nurturing traditional crafts and skills, with cutting edge campaigning, on issues such as social justice; coercive control and domestic violence.
"I salute them for their efforts, as well as their ability to reinvent themselves and to remain relevant in changing times. It is great to see the Powys Brecknock WI Federation and especially the Aberhonddu Angels in such good heart."
Cllr Powell then went on to call by with a sample of the Welsh cakes for volunteers at the stands of his two focus charities at the Show, namely SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity & the DPJ Foundation, the suicide prevention and rural mental health awareness charity. Both reported excellent footfall and strong support.

He also called in on the local Nepalese community, at the impressive first-time stand of the New Gurkha Inn, the popular Nepalese restaurant founded by Major Khusiman and Mrs Manju Gurung in Bronllys Road, Talgarth.
In conclusion, Cllr Powell said: "Heartfelt congratulations to the Show organisers. There was a strong livestock entry, and a great range of trade stands, with everyone having a great day, at what was a vintage Brecon County Show. Respect in particular to the many charity volunteers, whose dedication makes it all possible."
