MORE than half the council homes in Powys fail to meet the Welsh Government's required maintenance standards, figures show.
The county council has already reached an agreement with the Welsh Government to extend its deadline, to 2018, by when its housing stock must meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.
The Welsh Government had previously set a 2012 target for all social housing to meet the standard.
Powys County Council has 5,400 tenanted homes, but as of March 2012 when the latest figures were available, less than half, 2,454, of those homes were up to standard.
Ken Tovey, 61, has complained his council home, in Sennybridge, is plagued by damp. Powys County Council says it is in contact with Mr Tovey about undertaking repairs.
