Community groups, businesses, and organisations across Powys are being urged to register their venues as warm spaces and apply for grants of up to £2,000 to help residents during the winter months.

Powys County Council is refreshing its list of locations offering people somewhere to spend time in comfort through the colder period. Those that ran warm spaces last year should already have received an email asking if they intend to continue and whether any details have changed.

Councillor Matthew Dorrance, Powys County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Powys, said: “These accessible, safe and warm spaces are a real lifeline for some of our most vulnerable residents during the winter.

“So, if you think you can help your community out, please register your details and consider applying for a grant.

“This funding can be used to establish, or re-establish, a warm space, or to make improvements.”

The support is funded by Welsh Government, with £1.5 million being shared among councils in Wales through the Welsh Local Government Association.

Further information, including how to register or apply for a grant, is available on the council’s website.
