LATEST plans for a £75 million replacement for Brecon's high school, further education college and leisure centre have been revealed.

The ambitious proposals for a Brecon Learning Campus also involve closing the school's own sixth form.

Instead post 16 students would be taught at a sixth form centre - run by the NPTC Group, formed by the merger of Coleg Powys with Neath Port Talbot College, in partnership with the high school.

It has also been revealed the preferred site for the new school, college and leisure centre is the current site of the Brecon Leisure Centre and adjoining cricket pitch.

The current swimming pool will be demolished, to make space for a car park, when a new leisure centre and swimming pool is completed.

Brecon High School and the current college site will remain open during the construction period.
