TEACHERS and politicians are among those from Powys recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Lynne Jones, headteacher at Llangors Church in Wales Primary, near Brecon received an MBE while former teacher Linda Games, 83, of Llangynidr was awarded the British Empire Medal.

Five times mayor of Presteigne Colin Kirkby picked up an MBE in recognition of his role in community recycling and Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Kirsty Williams, AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, was awarded a CBE.
