The decision was made to evacuate him via stretcher back to the team’s vehicles from where he and the rest of the party were driven off the hill and back to their car for onwards transport to A&E for a check over.
Speaking about the rescue, a spokesperson for Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team said: “There was a little delay in the group calling for Mountain Rescue assistance as they didn’t want to ‘inconvenience people’, during which time it got dark and the rest of the group were getting cold.
“If you need assistance then make that call, better just the one casualty than all of the group becoming at risk. To contact Mountain Rescue it’s 999, ask for the Police and then state you need Mountain Rescue.”
