Builth Wells Rotary recently organised the local heats of the Rotary Young Photographer Competition 2023.

This was held at the Ysgol Calon Cymru High School, on the Llandrindod Campus.

The aim of the competition is to task the pupils to produce an image based upon a theme. The theme this year was ’The Beauty of Architecture’.

In addition, each entrant was asked to provide a brief sentence explaining what the photograph represents and their inspiration behind the image.

There were two age categories, Intermediate (Year 9) and Senior (Year 10).

The winner of the Intermediate was Adam Jones, and the winner of the Senior was Madryn Wallich-Clifford.

The winning entries now proceed to the District final, from where they may be selected for the Regional final, chichis held at the Senedd in Cardiff.

The Rotary said they were honoured to have Bob Walls judging the competition this year. Bob has recently been chairperson of Builth Wells Photographic Club, and he is keen to encourage novice photographers to develop their skills; a club member is already introducing photography to the children at Builth Wells Primary School.
