THE Met Office has issued a ’yellow’ or severe warning of ice for Powys following wintry showers.

Forecasters says temperatures will plummet after dark on Friday and are warning people to take precautions on untreated surfaces and to be aware of potentially difficult travel conditions.

The warning, which covers the whole of Wales, said icy patches are likely to form on untreated surfaces, including roads, footpaths and cycleways, especially where there have been wintry showers.

Icy conditions are expected to last into Saturday.

Hazardous driving conditions have been reported on the A4069 Black Mountain Road between Brynamman and Llangadog because of snow. Motorists have been advised to approach with care.
