Gwernyfed High School is celebrating a strong set of GCSE and vocational results this year, with staff praising a “fantastic” Year 11 group for its hard work and commitment.
The school said pupils had achieved performances across a wide range of measures, with this year’s results showing continued improvement.
It said the outcomes reinforced Gwernyfed High School’s position as one of the highest-performing schools in Powys and the wider region.
Interim headteacher Mrs Sian Jenkins said the achievements were a testament to the determination of pupils, alongside the support provided by staff and families.
The school also highlighted the individual approach offered to pupils, saying that as a small school it was able to know learners well and support them in reaching their potential.
“Every pupil is known, valued and encouraged to succeed, and it is wonderful to see them flourish both academically and personally,” the school said.
Many of the Year 11 pupils will continue their education at Gwernyfed Sixth Form and Chweched 6, while others will move on to colleges, apprenticeships and employment.
Mrs Jenkins said the school was “immensely proud” of every member of the year group and looked forward to hearing about their future achievements.
Gwernyfed High School also said it was proud to be oversubscribed in a number of year groups, which it said reflected the confidence families placed in the school.
“We are also proud that the school is oversubscribed in a number of year groups, reflecting the confidence that families place in Gwernyfed High School and our commitment to combining small-school relationships with big-school ambition,” saidMrs Jenkins.
Gwernyfed wished the pupils every success as they begin the next stage of their education, training and working lives.
“Congratulations to a truly wonderful year group. We wish you every success for the future,” the school said.
