THE A44 at Crossgates has re-opened after it was closed due to heavy snow.
Snowfall brought wide spread disruption to Brecon and Radnorshire on Friday, with the A470 from Brecon to Merthyr Tydfil also closed from mid morning until 3pm,
The A44 at Crossgates re-opened at 6pm on Friday evening, having been blocked in both directions, since around mid-day.
Across Powys all public bus services were cancelled and many schools were closed.
Despite the snow, some people in Brecon were making the best of it.
The heavy snow that has caused disruption across Brecon and Radnorshire has meant that all Powys County Council refuse and recycling crews due to collect waste today (Friday, January 18), have instead been diverted to clear snow from town centre pavements.
A council spokesman said: "Powys County Council took the decision to suspend refuse and recycling collections due to the severe weather that has hit the county today. The crews will clear snow from the pavements instead."
The council also announced that its offices in would close from 4pm on Friday, January 18 because of the severe weather. Normal opening hours are anticipated to resume on Monday, January 21.
The Met Office 'red warning' of up to 30cm of snow on higher ground in southern Wales, including the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains will remain in place until 9pm today (Friday).
Schools including Brecon High and Builth Wells High have closed, some other secondaries are only open to pupils sitting A-Level exams.

Coleg Powys has also announced all its sites are closed due to the weather.
Travel has also been disrupted, with people advised to only make essential journeys.
Arriva Trains Wales is warning of severe delays on the Heart of Wales line.
Powys County Council announced Thursday it was suspending all school transport on Friday.
