Steeplejacks have been at work on the 15th century tower of Llanhamlach Church to install a new lightning protection system and carry out essential maintenance on the rainwater spouts below the tower’s battlements. Dr Mervyn Bramley, the church treasurer, said “Our surveyor’s inspection had identified cracking in two of the spouts which needed repair and relining. We were relieved to find that dizzying jobs like this are day-to-day tasks for professional steeplejacks. G&S Steeplejacks, who carry out maintenance on many churches and other high buildings in Wales, said they particularly enjoyed working on Llanhamlach tower because of its fine view of the Beacons.”
