A CONVERTED chapel that opened eight months ago as a live music venue by former Oasis manager, Alan Magee and has his wife has had its planning permission refused.

The Brecon Beacons National Park (BBNP) said it had refused the change of use planning permission for the former Tabernacle Baptist Chapel in Talgarth from ecclesiastical use to a cafe, pub or restaurant.

Mr Magee's wife, Kate Holmes submitted the change of use application for A3 consent and believed the BBNP had misunderstood its application and said they intend to appeal the decision.

The venue remains open and is hosting live music this weekend, Friday, December 12 and the following evening.

Planning permission wasn't needed before the venue opened eight months ago and the BBNP carried out work to make the building, that had bowed and was at risk of collapse, structurally sound so the park authority had been aware of the plans for the building.
