TEACHERS at Brecon High School were told they had lost their jobs in the middle of their lessons, The Brecon & Radnor Express can reveal.

Two experienced teachers were pulled from their classrooms to be told they were being made redundant. One teacher even returned to complete his lesson after being told his job had been axed, last Friday, April 1.

John Rimmer, the outraged national president of teaching union the NASUWT, who attended a picket line manned by striking teachers at the Penlan school on Tuesday, April 5 fumed: "Two members of the school's senior leadership team knocked on the doors of the classrooms, one took over the lesson and the other went with the teacher.The school has said it has been forced to make redundancies due to having too many teachers and Powys County Council said the school had followed proper redundancy procedures.
