The Welsh Conservatives have announced their regional list candidates for for Mid and West Wales for the Assembly elections in May next year.
The top four ranked candidates for this region were:
Number One - Aled Davies
Mr Davies lives and works on a family run beef and sheep hill farm in Montgomeryshire. He has been a Powys County Councillor since 2008 and is the leader of the Conservative group. Mr Davies said he would be "campaigning for direct funding for schools to help teachers get on with the job of teaching". On health, he "particularly wants to see an end to specialist services disappearing from communities".
After the count, he said: “I am looking forward to being a strong voice for Mid and West Wales. I will fight to make sure that the needs of our rural communities are front and centre of Welsh government thinking.
“The Welsh Conservatives are the only alternative, and I will be campaigning hard on the issues that really affect the people of this region – including health, education and the strengthening of the rural economy.”
Number Two – Ian Harrison
Mr Harrison has worked across the region – recently as a campaign manager in Brecon and Radnorshire helping to get Chris Davies elected as MP. He is a former association chairman of Montgomery Conservatives. "Securing a Cancer Drug Fund, supporting farmers and fighting for fairer funding for the region" are among his priorities. He is married with three children.
Number Three – Harry Legge-Bourke
Mr Legge-Bourke is a trustee and director of Glanusk Events, and Glanusk Farm Partnership. His said his political priorities are health and education. He is also "passionate about the countryside and is keen to promote regional businesses, including farming, forestry, food technology and tourism". He spent three years as a board member of Natural Resources Wales and is a former Captain in the Welsh Guards.
Number Four – Denise Howard
Ms Howard is the regional press officer for the Conservatives in Wales. A former ITV journalist, she worked on Chris Davies’ campaign in Brecon and Radnor. "Health and education are particular concerns" of the mother-of-one.
