A man driving his dogs to a walking spot found his way blocked by a tree which was blown down by Storm Freya on Sunday night.
Chris Truswell said he rounded a bend in his Lexus 4x4 to find his route blocked by the large tree on a minor road between Llanwrtyd Wells and Abergwesyn.
Mr Truswell, who lives in Llanwrtyd, said the tree had also brought down a power cable and he could see a tree farther down the road had also come down.
The 38-year-old IT consultant said he could see no way through, so he had no choice but to turn his car round and head off to another dog-walking spot.
He said: "I couldn’t see a way through, so I turned the car round. This must have been about 5.30pm - I've got it all on my dashcam. I tried calling emergency services and Powys council’s number for reporting fallen trees on but both numbers were busy.
"The tree was in an area where the forestry people have removed a lot of supporting trees, so with the high winds from Storm Freya, I guess that’s why it came down.
"A neighbour was on the road behind me and they left their car and phoned ahead for someone to drive up to meet them. I suppose if I’d been any earlier the tree could have landed on my car."
Another fallen tree was reported to have partially closed a stretch of the A470 in mid Powys at around the same time.
The main north-to-south Wales trunk road was closed near Marteg Bridge between Rhayader and Llangurig from around 6pm.
Strong winds of up to 80 miles per hour affected Wales throughout the weekend as Storm Freya swept in.
Dyfed-Powys Police has thanked members of the public who assisted it by clearing fallen trees from the roads on Sunday.
