VOLUNTEERS from the village of Boughrood have been described as the 'lifeblood' of the community by St Cynog vicar, the Reverend Ian Charlesworth.

After pulling together to co-ordinate a fundraising campaign at the time of the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001 to raise cash for a new spire at St Cynog's, the Reverend moved to praise local volunteers this week for their long-term commitment to the church.

"It is ten years since the community of Boughrood pulled together so magnificently to raise the money necessary to reinstate the spire on the church," he told The Brecon & Radnor Express" and whilst you might think that after all the work involved in raising such a large amount of cash in one year the village had taken a well earned rest, I can tell you that is most certainly not the case.
