This Sunday (August 10) quad bike and 4x4 drivers from across Wales will come together for a special convoy across the Epynt Mountain, raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance Charity and the Brecknock Royal Welsh Agricultural Society’s Feature County Appeal.

The event marks the 85th anniversary of the clearance of the Epynt community, when families were relocated to make way for the military training area now based there. Participants will have a rare chance to explore this historic landscape, learn about its past, and see military training sites.

Organised by the Brecknock RWAS 2026 Feature County Committee in partnership with Major Andrew Butchers MBE, Commandant of Sennybridge Camp, the convoy will start at Llywel Viewpoint (what3words - ///newly.richly.adapt) from 9am, with the first vehicles setting off at 10:30am. The route will take around three hours to complete.

Entry costs £30 per vehicle and £10 per passenger, with one passenger allowed per quad bike. Helmets are mandatory for all quad riders and passengers, with helmets available to purchase on site from event sponsor Dalton’s ATV. Riders without helmets will not be permitted to join the run.

Participants will receive a burger at The Fedw following the event, with additional refreshments available at the starting point from the Trecastle snack van.

Gethin Havard, President of the Brecknock RWAS 2026 Feature County Committee, said: “The Epynt Quad & 4x4 Run is about more than just off-road adventure – it’s about connecting with the land, remembering its past, and supporting two causes that mean so much to rural Wales. We are incredibly grateful to Dalton’s ATV for their sponsorship and to Major Andrew Butchers MBE for his ongoing support in making this event possible.”

Participants are advised to register in advance via the Facebook event page and bring a printed disclaimer to speed up check-in on the day.
