Following the conclusion of their inaugural Cardiff 3 Peaks event on Saturday, June 28, Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team were requested to respond to an an injured lady walker on the path towards the Sgwd Gwladus waterfall, near Pontneddfechan Village.

Despite the already long day, ten Central Beacons team members were able to respond. They located the lady and her partner, treating and splinting her injured ankle and commenced a stretcher evacuation back down the path towards the village for her onward journey to hospital.

During the stretcher carry they were joined by additional members from both Western Beacons and Brecon Mountain Rescue Teams who had become available from the other ongoing incidents.

A spokesperson for Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team said: “We send our best wishes to the lady for a speedy recovery and another occasion of extending our gratitude for the support, tolerance and understanding of our team members’ partners, family and friends. “
