ADVENTUROUS couple Adele and Martin Lowe sailed around Britain and took their sheepdog Teilo for company.
The married couple, from Llandeilo Graban, near Erwood, bought their first boat, a 28ft-long yacht, and set sail from Wareham in Dorset on May 1 to navigate their way anti-clockwise around Britain, completing the voyage on August 26.
Along the way they battled Britain’s treacherous coastline and the worst weather the North and Irish Seas could throw at them.
“We brought the boat last year, we’d not had a boat before, and I said to my husband why don’t we sail around Britain?” said Adele.
“We just wanted to have an adventure and do something different. We’ve done a lot of challenges and this needed to be something we could do with our dog.”
Their efforts, however, were recognised by their friends: “We went to meet friends at the Kilverts pub, in Hay, on the weekend and as we walked in everyone clapped us.”For more on this story see this weeks Brecon and Radnor Express.
