THE Crickhowell Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers is the first in the UK to host a brand new course in hand spinning, leading to an Agored Cymru certificate.
The course tutor, Dunja Roberts, said: “I am thrilled that the Guild is hosting this accredited course for people who want to learn the traditional skill of hand spinning. With Wales’ history of sheep farming, spinning and weaving we should be doing all we can to keep our cultural heritage alive.”
Course participants travelled from as far away as Dorset and Warwickshire to take part in two days of intensive learning in October.
They will be joining in regular Guild meetings each Thursday until December to complete their course work to gain their certificates.
The Guild meets every Thursday at Arts Alive Wales, Crickhowell, and visitors are always welcome. To book classes, visits or talks with Dunja call 01874 730907, email [email protected] or see www.allinaspin.co.uk.
