WEDNESDAY, August 8 saw the presentation of the proceeds of the sixth Welsh National Tractor Road Run.

The run which moves around the counties of Wales, took place in Llanidloes on Sunday, June 3, when 252 tractors from all over Wales, the border counties and as far afield as Southampton, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire and Lancashire converged on the market town.

The presentation evening started with John Bates, co-founder of the WNTRR explain to the invited guests and helpers, which included the Mayor of Llanidloes, Cllr Janet Crisp, the history behind the Run, before calling on Andrew Thomas, WNTRR Llanidloes 2018 route plotter, to present a cheque for £1,500 to Mori Edwards, who collected it on behalf of Cancer Research Wales.

Then it was the turn of fellow route plotter, Raymond Rees, who presented Lindy Jones with a cheque for £1500 which was for the Llanidloes Hospital League of Friends, Palliative care Unit.

The run in June, was blessed with perfect weather conditions, the tractors did a 30 mile route touring the communities and views of Glan y Nant, Clywedog dam and reservoir, Cwmbiga, Llwynygog, Staylittle, Llawr y Glyn, Trefeglwys, Bwlch Y Gle before returning to Llanidloes.

The WNTRR wish to thank all participants, land owners and marshals as well as the generosity of the onlookers who gave donations it’s greatly appreciated.

Preparations are already at an advanced stage for next year’s event which will take place on Sunday, June 2, and sees the run heading to Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire.
