A WIDOW says she has just enough money left to bury herself after an insurance firm refused to pay out on an £11,000 claim.

Pensioner Susan Fawcett-Gandy, who lives on the outskirts of Brecon, says 'hurricane-strength' storms at the beginning of the year 'sucked out' the outer wall of her near 200-year-old barn.

The 82-year-old believed her insurers Zurich would pay out for the cost of the repairs because of a storm damage agreement in her policy. But the former probation officer has been left to foot the bill because Zurich say the damage was caused by 'wear and tear' rather than gale force winds.

Mrs Fawcett-Gandy says she is determined to fight the insurance group, and will take her fight on to the Financial Service Ombudsman and the small claims court if necessary.
