The inaugural Brecon RFC two-day Mini and Juniors Festival, held on May 3 and 4 at Parc De Pugh, was a huge success, with record attendance.

Players from 27 clubs across South and West Wales competed in 10 age groups, making it a vibrant celebration of rugby.

Event organiser Rachel Evans-Taylor said: “We've had amazing feedback, with clubs already reserving their spaces for next year's festival."

The Brecon under-7s fielded three teams, with Team B topping the age group. Brecon’s Zak Davies-Bowen was named under-7 Player of the Festival. The two teams of under-8s also impressed with strong performances. The under-9s were runners-up, with Alex Burgess named top player of his age group. The under-10s displayed resilience, securing a number of victories, while the under-11s, despite facing strong teams and no substitutes, played with great teamwork.

The under-13s gave a solid performance but were narrowly beaten in the final by Pontypool United. The under-14s started with a draw but were defeated by eventual winners, Abercrave, before finishing with a win. The under-15s, bolstered by under-14s, began with a victory but struggled against tough opponents, showing great resilience. The under-16s, playing their final festival as juniors, won their first match and showed promising potential.
