After a long break following Covid, a large group of Welsh learners and speakers gathered again in Brecon to sing joyful carols in Welsh.
This was at the Plough Chapel on the morning of Saturday, December 6. The story of Christmas was read by learner Gill Manning, and John Edwards wrote a new poem for the occasion.
Then came the opportunity to enjoy a cup of tea and a chance to chat with friends old and new.
“That was really lovely,” said one relatively new learner. “I could follow everything, with the English translations.”
The initiative came from teacher Rhian Young, and the service was led by Revd Liz Bramley, ably supported on the organ by Susan Williams.
A member of the team said: “Thanks to all who helped with the refreshments, and to the Plough Chapel for saying yes to the idea.
“Before Covid, this service was a very popular fixture in the learners’ calendar, and we are already looking forward to next year’s event. Make a note in your diaries now!”
