Audiences were delighted last weekend to see the first live performance at the unique Willow Globe theatre since the beginning of the year.

The production of William Shakespeare’s Cymbeline was performed by the Willow Globe company at the magical venue near Llanwrthwl, just 10 miles from Llandrindod Wells.

A spokesperson for the Willow Globe said: “‘Our community production of Cymbeline heralds the beginning of our season of live performances here at The Willow Globe.

“We have a mix of old favourites and new companies visiting us throughout the summer, all with a socially distanced audience layout in place that changes for every show in order to accommodate household bubbles.

“We are thrilled to be open to the public again, and look forward to safely welcoming as many people as we are allowed to!’

The Willow Globe (Y Glôb Byw) is a scaled down, living version of the Globe in London, being a third of its size in diameter.

The willow has been carefully woven into an organic and spiritual theatre, starkly sculptural in spring, which is almost completely absorbed by its lush, green surroundings in the summer months.

The intimate, secret and magical venue, with a rough thrust stage, is totally unique - and makes for an incredible space to both watch and perform live heatre.
