Tommy Davies and Hannah Charnley from Brecon Basketball Club and Brecon Integrated Sports Association (BISA) will be representing Special Olympics Great Britain in the men’s and women’s basketball teams at the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi from March 14-21.

This is the world’s largest humanitarian and sporting event of 2019 featuring seven days of competition in 24 sports. Some 7,000 athletes are expected in the United Arab Emirates, with a team of 129 representing Great Britain.

Tommy, 19, captained the silver-winning Wales basketball team in the Special Olympics National Summer Games in 2018. He is a sports centre assistant and basketball and fitness training are his passion.

Artist Hannah is an international Special Olympian in athletics and has trained hard for the last couple of years with her clubs and Special Olympics GB basketball coaches.

Hannah and Tommy would like to thank their families and friends for all their support in the run up to the games, Brecon Integrated Sports Association members for fund-raising and all the local organisations who have helped financially – The Keith Morris Appeal, South Powys Disability Network Forum, Tim Belcher’s Colour Run, Brecon Jazz Festival, Talybont Bikefest and Ysgol Penmaes.

Look out for Hannah and Tommy on the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 facebook page in the run up to the spectacular opening ceremony at the Zayed Sports City Stadium on March 14.
