SATURDAY saw Glangrwyney 1sts visit second place Garnons.

Batting first Glangrwyney made a stuttering start against an accurate bowling attack that reflected the home sides status. However, Ryan Sharpe (51) and Drew Heffernan(31) soon came to terms with them and runs started to flow.

Following Heffernan’s departure, Barry Sharp (15) and Jim Astle (12) provided support, before the innings closed at 164. Garnons Pritchard picked up six wickets, the remainder being shared.

In reply, Garnons accumulated runs, most batsmen getting a start, and although there wasn’t a stand out performance they reached the target to win by four wickets. Ryan Sharp proved equally competitive with the ball with three wickets, assisted by Mike Devoy and Nicky Jones with two and one wickets respectively.

Glangrwyney 2nd’s were also away at Colwall 4ths.

Batting first Glangrwyney’s Mark Keane’s 38 proved to be the sides top scorer adding 29 with James McIlroy, and 30 with Paul Daniell.

The innings fell away after Keane’s departure to disappointing 112 all out after a promising start. Colwall’s bowlers shared the wickets, Lessimore the most successful.

Glangrwyney made a good start in defending a low total, reducing Colwall to 6-2, but Cara proved the difference with 74no, adding 78 with Wyatt to see his side to victory. All Glangrwyney’s bowlers performed well, but needed a larger total to work with on a good batting track.
