Canon Frome 179-6 Glangrwyney 193-9 .

SATURDAY saw Glangrwyney 1st team travel to Canon Frome still looking for their first victory of the season.

Put into bat in bowler friendly conditions, Glangrwyney made a steady start through Byrne and Daniel who were content to try and see off the opening bowlers. They were getting more movement as the shine came off one side of the ball and claimed a couple of wickets.

Tim Jones’s fine innings proved to be the difference between the two sides at the end of the day with partnerships of 33, 58,and 33 with Daniel, Devoy, and Sharp respectively.

The tail wagged to see a competitive total achieved. For Canon Frome, Atkin was the pick of the bowlers, with Weaver, Boyson, and Lloyd picking up the other wickets.

On taking the field, all of Glangrwyney’s bowlers made equal use of the conditions restricting the scoring throughout Canon Frome’s innings which proved to be key to winning the match even if wickets were hard to come by.

A late flurry by Canon Fromes Atkin and Bridges briefly threatened the outcome, but they had been left with too much to do. For Glangrwyney, wickets were shared by all bowlers, skipper Devoy leading the way to a 14 run victory.
