LAST Saturday saw Glangrwyney 1st team travel to Kington.

Glangrwyney chose to field first and opening bowlers Mike Devoy and Nathan Byrne bowled accurately through the first 15 overs with no reward. With Kington’s batsmen starting to play some attacking shots Julian Hardwick claimed the first wicket, however Kington reached the midway drinks break at 90-1.

The break worked to Glangrywney’s advantage, Hardwick picking up another wicket in the next over, and bowled excellently to end up with a well deserved five wicket haul.

Skipper Mike Devoy rotated the bowlers at the other end picking up three wickets himself with the other bowlers providing good support.

The fielders supported their bowlers all catches offered being taken. For Kington, opener Morgan was the mainstay with a careful 80, Mason striking out at the end for 25no.

In reply, after an early loss, Glangrwyney made a steady start. Byrne and Drew Heffernan content to try and see off the opening bowlers. The loss of a couple of wickets set Glangrwyney back, and although Mike Devoy and Sharp batted well, they ran out of partners and fell short of the target. For Kington wickets were shared between Green, Morgan, and Smith.
