TALYBONT Cricket Club held their annual presentation night at the Usk Hotel on Saturday October 29 with a fine turnout of players, partners and sponsors.

Chairman Geraint James hosted the evening and began with a minutes silence in memory of former club member Margaret Cox who sadly passed away recently.

The first awards of the evening were presented by Sunday captain Tommy Kenchington whose Sunday side lost just one match this season.

The awards went to Lewis Deacon who picked up his first 50 for the club and the most Sunday runs with a total of 138. The bowling was shared between Colin Griffiths and Jamie Butler who earned seven wickets each whilst Geraint James won the fielding award with five dismissals.

Other awards went to Martin Hurst and Guy Williams who won trophies for their first 100s and 50s for the club and Richard James who also got his first 50.

The Saturday league winning awards went to Craig Robinson who averaged a superb 114 with the bat whilst with the ball Huw Griffiths won the bowling average award with 25 wickets at an average of 12.2.

Deacon also won the first five wicket haul for the club whilst Griffiths got the best bowling figures award with five for 26. Dan Bowen with his magnificent 176 not out grabbed the highest score of the season and Lewis Mallon the fielding award with an excellent seven catches and three run outs.

Most improved winner was Tommy Kenchington and Victoria James was young player of the year. Talybont used 19 players during the league season who all received individual trophies.

The final awards of the evening went to Huw Griffiths and Dan Bowen who shared the players player of the year having collected the same number of votes from their fellow players. Grifffiths also collected the clubman of the year.

At the end of the evening James presented chocolates to tea ladies Karen Gould, Tiffany Bate, Shauna Evison and Alison Cartwright. Flowers were presented to Jill and Andy Felix of the Usk hotel who have been tremendous hosts to the club during the season and Dorothy James who carried out the secretaries role. A fine evening for the club who celebrated promotion at the first attempt.
