PIP SAMUEL (ELECTRICAL) MID WALES (SOUTH) LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Rhayader Town Reserves retained the Pip Samuel (Electrical) Mid Wales (South) League Cup with a surprisingly easy 3-0 success over Hay St Marys Reserves in Monday’s final played at Builth Wells.
Michael Fowlie earned the freedom of Rhayader with a final hat-trick as the Red Kites celebrated more glory this season.
After heading over from an early corner, Fowlie opened the scoring bundling the ball in following another Tony Davies flag-kick. Fowlie doubled the lead before half-time with a superb strike as he bent the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.
There was no way back for Hay when Fowlie headed his hat trick goal from another Davies corner to give manager, Mark Price silverware in his first season in charge.
The final was dedicated to the memory of Matthew Rees who played for several local clubs and who recently passed away and it was fitting that his wife, Helen should present the individual momentoes and the League Cup to Rhayader captain, Fowlie.
